Wolfgang Puck Returns to West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip with Ospero at the Pendry Hotel

Wolfgang Puck’s new Ospero restaurant, located in the trendy WeHo Pendry Hotel on the Sunset Strip serves up pastas, salads, vegan dishes and a wide variety of wood-fired pizzas.

The new restaurant, one of two Puck eateries at the hotel, has the menu of a trattoria and the look of a modern bistro. Guests can choose to dine at one of the many inside tables, a banquette or outside overlooking downtown L.A.

We were a bit surprised that you can also see directly into the Pendry’s new condos across the street, only three of which were sold when we dined on the patio.  Once these are occupied, patio seating will make for good people watching along with the pretty city views. Inside, a two-toned brown honeycomb designed floor is offset with emerald comfy green leather chairs, barstools and booths.

Standout appetizers include the beautiful wood oven roasted cauliflower with brown butter and almonds; burrata with heirloom tomatoes and arugula pesto and the chopped Chino Farm vegetable salad. Neither my dining partner nor I am a vegetarian and we both loved these vegetarian dishes.

The many tasty wood oven fired pizzas include spicy chicken, wild mushroom, lamb sausage, grilled eggplant, prosciutto and smoked salmon with dill cream.

Pastas include spaghetti with meatballs, cheese ravioli in a brown butter sage sauce, gnocchi with braised oxtail and a spicy turkey Bolognese rigatoni. Diners can also enjoy grilled salmon, oven roasted branzino, jidori chicken or the grilled skirt steak.

Decadent desserts include a tiramisu, chocolate layer cake, key lime pie, a vegan blueberry pie, Basque cheesecake and a vanilla flan.

The cocktail menu features tasty libations including a Help! Save the Bees cocktail with vodka, lavender and limoncello.

The best seat is on the patio, enjoying the view where you can choose to start the day with a delicious breakfast or enjoy the sunset with a wood oven fired pizza and a cocktail.

Located at 8430 Sunset Boulevard, serving breakfast from 1 to 11:30am, lunch from 11:30am to 2:30pm, and dinner Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 10pm and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11pm. Reservations at 323-918-3420.
