West Hollywood Pavilions Listed as One of 63 California Stores to be Sold in Merger

West Hollywood Pavilions supermarket, at 8969 Santa Monica Boulevard has been listed as one of 63 stores in California (mainly Southern California) that will be sold as part of a proposed merger between Kroger and Albertsons, which would sell off 579 stores total.

In a memo to employees, Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen stated that the affected stores would be spun off to C&S Wholesale Grocers if the $24.6 billion merger proceeds. Officials assured that employees would retain their jobs with C&S.

The merger faces opposition from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which argues that it could lead to higher grocery prices and negatively impact workers due to reduced competition.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta has also filed a lawsuit to block the merger, stating it would “harm consumers.”

Kroger has refuted these claims, asserting that the merger will not result in the closure of any stores, distribution centers, or manufacturing facilities. The company insists that the merger will lead to lower prices and more choices for customers.

The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union, representing grocery workers, reiterated its opposition on Tuesday. “Today’s announcement changes nothing,” the union stated. “The merger is not a done deal. We remain focused on stopping it because it would harm workers, shoppers, suppliers, and communities.”

The union pointed out that Attorneys General from Colorado and Washington, along with the FTC, had previously rejected the merger proposal. “These legal challenges are moving forward with hearings starting at the end of July and scheduled to continue through September,” the union added.

I just came to see if Jerome Cleary had inserted his Wow or Omg yet. But other than that, I don’t understand the love of that store. I also live a couple blocks away, It’s overpriced and understaffed.

Well THIS is bull if it’s true. It is consistent though, with ALL these awful “innovative” ideas and changes that have been taking place around here (Hollywood/West Hollywood).

They changed Hollywood Blvd. To ONE lane in my neighborhood which was already a bit congested, between Wilton and Western, heading east).

Other great stores and restaurants are closing right and left, and being replaced with garBAGE.

I love shopping at the Vons in WeHo and Studio City when I am in those neighborhoods.

I hope this doesn’t pass, and the stores will be left as they are.

This attempted merger is proof that price fixing and orchestrated inflation are the objective. The FTC should stop it immediately.
