WELCOME! Lazy Bird Smoothie & Juice Bar Opens in West Hollywood

Welcome to the neighborhood. New Lazy Bird smoothie and juice bar opened in West Hollywood this month. Established in 2019, the wellness eatery is bringing Açaí smoothie bowls to Route 66 in the heart of WeHo’s Rainbow District. Located at 8730 Santa Monica Boulevard where LoCali once stood (and Cake Balls before it), their official opening date was May 10, 2021.

“I love Açaí bowls,” said owner Chloe Jeun. “I’ve been eating it for a while. It’s something that is very popular in Orange County. People are tired of drinking sugary blends. It is time to bring something new to town. We opened one in Anaheim and now we’re open here. It’s a really good place for people who are healthy and workout.”

Chloe says the name Lazy Bird basically stems from the opposite of an early bird. “We serve breakfast all day,” she said. “So this is for someone who sleeps in and has their breakfast late if they want like a lazy bird.”

She chose to open shop on Santa Monica Boulevard because it’s a busy street and the city of West Hollywood is known for attracting health conscious people. She says she’s had curious customers come in who have never had an Açaí bowl before. They usually return for more.

Then there are those who are familiar with the popular smoothies and are happy to have one open in the neighborhood. “I think people in this neighborhood like healthy food and what we offer here is a super food,” she said.

Açaí bowls come from Brazil. Açaí berries actually grow on palm trees and originate in the Amazon. The bowls are frosty purple smoothies loaded with toppings. They are tangy and refreshing with sliced fruit, berries, granola, coconut and almond butter. It’s build your own, so there are many variations. However, their signature item is the Lazy Bowl, which comes in a base of Açaí (1/2sweet) and Pitaya (Dragon Fruits). Toppings include pumpkin flax granola, strawberry, banana, toasted almonds, toasted coconut, goji berry, almond butter, pumpkin seeds, cacao nib, chia seed, hemp seed, regular honey. It’s available in 12oz, 16oz, or 24oz.
