The City of West Hollywood gave Fiesta Cantina some much needed outdoor space today as part of the city’s Outdoor Use Temporary Zone (OUT Zone) program. OUT Zone was designed to meet the needs of restaurants, retail shops, and personal care establishments during the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic that is shutting down a lot of businesses because they are not able to operate indoors. The City is encouraging some of these businesses to take services outside.
Fiesta Cantina located at 8865 Santa Monica Blvd., can now serve their customers on the actual street of Santa Monica Boulevard. The upbeat Mexican restaurant known for happy-hour specials, a rooftop deck & large TVs has tables lined up in former parking spaces and a portion of the bike lane. The restaurant was also granted permission to use the parklette located in front of their patio, as well use of the patio area of the neighboring Z-Pizza eatery.

OUT Zones provide outdoor commercial space so businesses can serve their customers while adhering to protocols set forth by the LA County Department of Public Health. Indoor business operations are currently prohibited in the Sate of California during the current COVID-19 shutdown.
More than 60 West Hollywood businesses have been approved for temporary outdoor expansion permits. Some businesses are already using parking lots, sidewalks, alleyways and in the case of Fiesta Cantina, the actual street. Many more new OUT Zones are expected to come OUT in the City of West Hollywood in the next couple of weeks.
