West Hollywood’s Recreation Department hosted Movies in the Park Summer Series at West Hollywood Park on Saturday, July 16, 2022. The event was in celebration of National Recreation Parks Association’s (NRPA) Parks And Recreation Month. WeHo Rec held a special showing of “The Secret Lives of Pets 2” in front of the grand stairs of the Aquatics and Recreation Center. The Movies in the Park event was free. This is the first time the city hosts the outdoor movie night at WeHo Park; it usually takes place at Plummer Park.

The actual event began at 5 p.m. with several activities and free giveaways. Children could adopt a pet and walk away with a free plush puppy. There were arts and crafts and the city gave away a free Frisbee for participating in some of the games. Snacks and drink sales went directly to West Hollywood Sheriff’s Youth Activities League (YAL) a foundation sponsors youth services for at risk youth in the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles county.
The movie began at sundown at roughly 8 p.m..

The next showing for the WeHo Rec’s Movies in the Park Summer Series will take place on August 2, 2022. The children’s movie scheduled to screen will be Minions at Plummer Park, located at 7377 Santa Monica Blvd.
