It’s official folks. Los Angeles Pride has begun. The mayor of West Hollywood John Heilman, and Christopher Street West hosted a Pride kick-off party at the Penthouse in West Hollywood to jump start the LA Pride celebrations.
Billy Francesca kept things moving and people laughing as the master of ceremonies at the event. The evening featured a live DJ and special live performances by Leon Else and Anthony Fedorov.
Activist and Grand Marshal for LA Pride 2017, Alexei Romanoff, attended the event with his husband David Farah. Guests included West Hollywood council members Lindsay Horvath, John J Duran, John D’Amico and Lauren Meister. Also in attendance were several West Hollywood personalities like Bobby Trendy and Billy Masters.
LA Pride is on from Friday, June 9, through Sunday, June 11.
It all starts with the annual Dyke March on Friday, June 9, at the Sal Guarriello Veterans’ Memorial, located at 8447 Santa Monica Boulevard. The event will kick-off at 6 p.m. with a live DJ set from Claudette Sexy DJ and a protest-sign and pin-making workshop led by artist Julianna Parr. A rally will begin at 7 p.m. There will be a march at 8 p.m. down Santa Monica Boulevard to San Vicente Boulevard and back.
The march will be followed by L.A. Pride Trans Party and a #SIZZLE sober area at Christopher Street West’s LA Pride Festival from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Festival grounds at West Hollywood Park.
On Saturday, June 10, the CSW’s LA Pride Festival will take place at West Hollywood Park, from 12 p.m. to 1 a.m. and on Sunday, June 11, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. There will be music and entertainment on three stages. On Sunday, June 11, 2017, the #ResistMarch will take the place of the annual LA Pride Parade. The #ResistMarch will gather on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 8 a.m. at Hollywood and Highland. The march will proceed to the City of West Hollywood at Santa Monica Boulevard and Almont Drive. As a reminder, no alcohol, backpacks, or weapons will be allowed; only clear plastic bags will be permitted. For more information, visit: resistmarch.org.
