Council member Lindsey Horvath is hosting a fundraising event to benefit WeHo Stories on September 11, beginning at 6pm at a location available upon RSVP. WeHo Stories is an oral history project to finally honor and immortalize the unique legacy of West Hollywood through a first-ever collection of narratives and environmental portraits of city founders, cultural leaders, and the activists who have kept the city on track.
“Serving on the West Hollywood City Council is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life,” Horvath said in a press release. “WeHo has an amazingly rich history and has consistently been at the forefront of the issues that we all care about. This is why I am excited about a project I have initiated, with the help of some truly incredible people: WeHo Stories.”
According to Horvath, documenting the city’s history of those who have been part of it is a long overdue project. It is our responsibility to gather personal, firsthand accounts of how West Hollywood came to be the amazing city we know and love today from the people who know our history best, the members of our community.
“Earlier this year, we formally kicked off our fundraising efforts,” she added. “Tomorrow, September 11, I’m hosting a second event to raise seed money for this all-important project. I hope you can join us. If you are unable to be there, please consider making a generous donation to this important project.”
