The City of West Hollywood’s Recreations Services Department delivered a winter wonderland at West Hollywood Park this past Saturday, December 17, 2022, with real snow, games, raffles, photo ops, music and other giveaways.
The City of West Hollywood transformed a portion of West Hollywood Park into a picturesque Winter Wonderland with 10 tons of snow on the South Lawn.

This event was obviously geared towards the young, but the young at heart were welcome as well. There were two snow zones in place, one for ages 5-and-under, and another for ages 6-to-16. The children were allowed to the corralled snow areas in groups. The were allowed to play in the snow for 5 minutes to allow another group a turn. WeHo Rec staff spent a good portion of night shoveling and turning the snow to make up fluff again. The “snow” was actually crushed ice, so it made for a painful snow fight, which some children learned the hard way.

Snow zones aside, there were plenty of games for kid and teens at the Winter Wonderland event. There was a teen booth offering free popcorn and hot cocoa, a Scratch Art Craft Booth, a Bring Home the Bacon game, and a Bushel Basket toss game. The children’s playground was also very busy that night.

Raffle prizes included board games, sports games and toys.
The Winter Wonderland was an opportunity for the City of West Hollywood to distribute toys to families who qualified to benefit from the City’s annual toy drive.
The night also offered live performances from the Los Angeles AcroDance Acadamy, a dance acrobatics school for students ages 3-19, specializing in AcroDance, Ballet and Jazz. There were three performances in front of the Grand Staircase of the West Hollywood Aquatics and Recreation Center (ARC).

The evening ended with the falling of snow in front of the ARC, making it a real Winter Wonderland in the City of West Hollywood.

This is the first year the City has brought snow to West Hollywood Park as part of the holiday celebrations. Judging from the large turnout, this could be a yearly thing.
