WeHo City Invites You to Shop Small for Small Business Saturday

The City of West Hollywood and the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce (WHCC) teamed up with Local Businesses for “Shop Small for WeHo” during the launch of Small Business Saturday, which kicks-off the holiday shopping season. West Hollywood’s Small Business Saturday will take place this Saturday, November 24. Residents and visitors are encouraged to join millions of consumers across the nation and “shop small” on the first shopping Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Small Business Saturday was founded in 2010 in response to independent business owners’ difficulty in competing with big-box stores’ advertising budgets to drive customers through their doors during the holiday shopping season. Shoppers in West Hollywood can stroll the streets of the City’s Design District, Robertson Boulevard, Melrose Avenue, Santa Monica Boulevard, or the Sunset Strip, among other prime retail spots in the City.

At 1 p.m., Kirsten Vangsness, star of CBS’s Criminal Minds, will be at Fred Segal Sunset, located at 8500 Sunset Boulevard. She will share gift-giving tips and go on shopping spree at the luxury retail outlet.

At 2:30 p.m., Robert Kovacik, NBC4’s award-winning reporter will be at Just Food For Dogs, located at 7870 Santa Monica Boulevard. He will be cooking up gourmet signature recipes with the store’s chef.

At 4 p.m. The Real Housewives of Beverly HillsLisa Vanderpump will be at Tom Tom Restaurant and Bar, located at 8932 Santa Monica Boulevard for an “Open House” event.

Businesses will donate part of the day’s proceeds to the City of West Hollywood’s Homeless Initiative. The Homeless Initiative is rooted in the City’s core value of respect and support for people and is structured with a multi-agency collaborative approach to directly address the challenges associated with homelessness. The Homeless Initiative includes city staff members in variety of departments, nonprofit social services providers, law enforcement, County agencies, and more. The City contracts with agencies that provide shelter beds, outreach services, substance abuse treatment, food and nutrition programs, case management, job training and more, and also funds programs to prevent homelessness.
