WeHo Chamber Lists Issues Concerning Business Community at Tonight’s Council Meeting

The West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce sounded the alarm on issues affecting the business community at tonight’s City council meeting.

“If you are concerned about any of these items–minimum wage; helping support resources for our Sheriffs and Public Safety – you need to write in and/or speak Monday night,” reads an email blast from The Chamber. “You have until 2pm, Monday, November 15 to email Melissa Crowder that you wish to speak on the item at [email protected] and/or send an email/letter to [email protected]

According to WeHo Chamber, Monday night’s City Council will cover several issues that concern the business community:

    1. CONSENT CALENDAR

Agenda #2.G. – 2nd reading to adopt the Minimum Wage ordinance. (if this concerns you and impacts your business negatively please review the memo sent to City Manager for consideration of changes to the ordinance prior to adopting. You will ask them to please consider these before enacting) https://weho.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=&event_id=1318&meta_id=219070  While this is a Minimum Wage issue – most of the business support increase to minimum wage in a reasonable timeline.  The CPI escalation, lack of tips being recognized as wages even though businesses are taxed on this as income, and the 4.5 weeks of time off is the job killer.   IF YOU WANT THEM TO ADDRESS THE ATTACHED ISSUES, LET THEM KNOW THAT “WE RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THIS BEING PULLED FROM CONSENT SO THAT THE COUNCIL CAN DISCUSS”

    1. PUBLIC HEARINGS

Agenda #3.A. – ordinance for Businesses that serve alcohol – education, signage and training requirements https://weho.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=&event_id=1318&meta_id=219088

    1. UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Agenda #4.C. Development of Behavioral Health Crisis Response Unit – this unit will help relieve pressure from Sheriff’s on calls for our unhoused population https://weho.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=&event_id=1318&meta_id=219104

Agenda #4.D. Community Safety & Well-Being – Goals regarding community safety and well-being.  This will address policies and funding for our Sheriffs and MET teams.   https://weho.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=&event_id=1318&meta_id=219112

    1. NEW BUSINESS – This is items to keep eye on

Agenda #5.A. – Exploration of Alternative and additional public restrooms.  (This is addressing issues of homeless needing facilities) https://weho.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=&event_id=1318&meta_id=219147

Agenda #5B – Measures to increase community safety – working with the Public Safety Commission and the business community on neighborhood watch program and public cameras https://weho.granicus.com/MetaViewer.php?view_id=&event_id=1318&meta_id=219149

IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU CALL OR WRITE IN ON THE ISSUES OF MOST CONCERN REGARDLESS OF THE OUTCOME… THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY NEEDS TO BE ON THE RECORD AND SPEAK OUT.  I HAVE ATTACHED LETTERS WE ARE SENDING AND BULLETS WE FEEL ARE NEEDED AMENDMENTS FOR MANY OF YOU TO SURVIVE THIS INCREASE.
