WeHo Arts Program Joins Multiplex Dance to Launch Dance Festival

The City of West Hollywood’s WeHo Arts program is joining Multiplex Dance to launch the West Hollywood Dance Festival on Sunday, August 20, from 4pm to 6pm at the West Hollywood Auditorium, located at 647 N. San Vicente Boulevard.

The Dance Festival reception will offer a Brighter flash mob choreography workshop. Jessica Lynn Harper will teach easy-to-learn choreography. Participants will be invited to join performers onstage during the last two minutes of a piece during Harper’s performances taking place on Friday, August 25, 2017 and Saturday, August 26, 2017.

Brighter embodies the mission of the West Hollywood Dance Festival in celebrating authenticity, identity and generosity of spirit with fun and accessible dance movements. No dance experience is necessary and all are welcome.

Multiplex Dance is a Los Angeles-based meta-modern dance company integrating athletic and acrobatic movement vocabulary with digital media and electronic music. Dancing at the crossroads of visceral and virtual landscapes, the creative work of MXD offers a roller coaster ride of tumbling, rolling, sliding, pivoting, inverting, rebounding, launching and flying through worlds inspired by super heroes, video games, and cyberpunk science fiction.

Founded in 2013 by Chad Michael Hall, MXD is dedicated to making innovative, accessible dance works and programs that engage audiences in creative and powerful ways.  MXD is rooted in empowerment, ingenuity, adventure and inspiration and expresses these core values through performances, residencies, professional intensives, master classes and community workshops.

Refreshments will be served at the reception. Admission is free.
