The Van Ness Recovery House (VNRH), the oldest LGBTQ+ in the nation, is hosting a holiday brunch and mixer as part of their fundraising campaign efforts to repair and remodel the residential treatment house to better serve their community.
The VNRH is celebrating 50 years in 2023. On Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 11am – 3pm the residents will be preparing a brunch hosted by Mr and Mrs Claus played by Patrick Rush and Jeffrey Drew as Lotta Slots. Following the brunch will be a mixer from 4pm-7pm. Food services will include a taco stand. There will be a free valet at this event.
In addition to the brunch and mixer, the VNRH also has an auction via the online fundraising platform Better World, which is allows them to keep more of the funds raised. The auction began on November 29, 2022 and will end on December 22, 2022. Items include a signed guitar by Melissa etheridge, a shirt autographed by Steven Tyler and other goods and services. Van Ness Recovery House opened a 20-bed residential treatment facility in 1973 serving the LGBT community. VNRH was one of the first to welcome persons with HIV and AIDS into residential addiction recovery treatment.
