UPDATE: Scooter was at Fault in Vehicle Versus Scooter Incident Last Month

WEHO TIMES reported on a vehicle-versus-scooter incident in West Hollywood last month, wherein an electric scooter rider was struck by a car at the intersection of Fountain Ave and Fairfax Ave. The incident took place on the northwest corner of the intersection on December 2, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m.

A brief video clip depicted a person on the ground, appearing to be in pain, while a woman seemed to be calling for assistance from emergency responders. A Lime scooter was observed wedged underneath a Toyota vehicle.

During a regular West Hollywood Public Safety Commission meeting on Monday, January 8, 2023, Sergeant Jason Duron reported that the traffic-related incident found the electric scooter driver at fault for illegally riding the scooter on the sidewalk. According to LASD WeHo, the scooter driver was also traveling on the wrong side of the street.

Details on the extent of the scooter drivers injuries or the damage made to the vehicle are not yet known.

Regarding the scooter incident. It’s obvious who ever allowed the. Scooters to exist are at fault. I can’t tell you how many times I almost got hit. The scooters are only to be on the street not the sidewalk!

Of course the scooter was a fault. The majority of them NEVER obey any traffic rules, or the rules on their scooters. Last week a electric scooter almost hit me on the sidewalk, cuts down the curb to the street crashes the stop sign at Detroit, Formosa, Alta Vista, Poinseitta, Fuller Streets, and beyond probably all the way down to Fairfax where there’s a light. He almost hit somebody in a crosswalk not once but twice. They’ve NO regard for human life. Paris did the right thing in BANNING ALL ELECTRIC SCOOTERS. Also I told 2 scooter riders to get… Read more »

Of course the scooter driver was at fault. The scooters are only driven by irresponsible daredevils–other than the losers who ride on our sidewalks.
