Tristan Schukraft to Launch The Tryst Luxury Hotels in Puerto Vallarta and San Juan

Tech entrepreneur and hospitality visionary Tristan Schukraft aims to redefine luxury travel for the LGBTQ+ community through his latest venture, Tryst Hotels. With an unprecedented commitment to excellence, sophistication, and inclusion, Tryst Hotels emerges as a pioneering luxury brand tailored to the discerning tastes of gay travelers.

Strategically positioned in prime locations within iconic LGBTQ+ travel destinations, Tryst Hotels will serve as the epicenter of local gay culture, blending authentic local charm with unparalleled luxury. Each property reflects a profound dedication to eco-conscious practices, community support, and collaboration with minority-owned businesses, ensuring that every stay contributes positively to the community.

The flagship establishment, The Tryst Puerto Vallarta, situated in the heart of Zona Romántica, embodies the brand’s ethos. Crafted by the esteemed Estudio Esterlina, renowned for their acclaimed work at Four Seasons Tamarindo, the hotel represents a masterpiece of minimalistic, modern, and Mexican design. This 55-room sanctuary fosters connections, providing an intimate setting for guests to mingle and form lasting bonds. Signature amenities, including a breathtaking rooftop pool and bar, as well as a gourmet restaurant showcasing the finest Mexican cuisine, set the stage for an unparalleled luxury experience.

“Tryst Hotels are more than just luxury destinations; they are celebrations of gay culture, embracing every guest,” said Schukraft. “Our mission is to create spaces where luxury and identity thrive without compromise.”

Schukraft, who recently made headlines for his purchased The Abbey Food & Bar and The Chapel at The Abbey, draws upon personal travel experiences to shape the brand. “Even in resorts claiming to be inclusive, my boyfriends and I would still receive side-eye glances from guests while at the pool in our swimsuits,” he said. “These are true five-star properties that offer all the luxurious amenities, discretion, and services gay men seek in the world’s top LGBTQ+ travel destinations.”

The Tryst Puerto Vallarta will begin accepting reservations in the coming weeks, with Tristan adding his personal touches before welcoming guests in time for Puerto Vallarta Pride.

As The Tryst Puerto Vallarta prepares to host its inaugural guests in spring 2024, the brand sets its sights on its next venture: The Tryst San Juan in Puerto Rico. Last year, Tristan acquired a beachfront hotel, which he rebranded as The Tryst Hotel and Beach Club, now open for reservations. Later this year, Tristan will commence a multi-million-dollar renovation to elevate it into a five-star beachfront resort. Upon completion in 2025, the property will boast 33 rooms with expanded balconies and terrace suites, a beach club with an infinity pool, a beachfront restaurant and bar, and an additional rooftop bar offering stunning views of Condado. The property, formerly known as the Atlantic Beach Hotel, played a pivotal role in establishing the renowned gay beach in San Juan, now directly in front of The Tryst Hotel and Beach Club. Tristan plans to announce a third luxury resort later this year.

Tryst Hotels represent a component of Tristan’s broader vision for a global portfolio of gay businesses championing diversity, luxury, and adventure. Tristan founded MISTR, which provides free online PrEP across the United States to over 275,000 patients. This fall, Tristan will reopen a newly renovated Circo, a prominent LGBTQ+ nightlife venue in San Juan, within walking distance of The Tryst San Juan. Additionally, Tristan has entered an agreement to acquire The Abbey Food & Bar and The Chapel in West Hollywood, iconic gay nightlife venues twice named the best Gay Bar in the World, frequented by A-List talent and neighborhood regulars alike, and recognized as the top nightlife drop-off and pick-up point in the world for both Uber and Lyft. Tristan is expected to assume ownership of both nightlife venues upon the transfer of the ABC license. In the coming months, Tristan will announce further acquisitions as he expands his company and fully embraces the moniker “the CEO of everything gay.”
