Three Struck in Hit and Run Incident in West Hollywood – Two Hospitalized

A car struck three pedestrians in a hit and run incident in West Hollywood Sunday morning at roughly 1:30am, on the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard. Toe of the victims were hospitalized while the third person suffered minor injuries. Angel Hernandez, 29, is one of the victims that was taken to Cedars Sinai and is in stable condition. He suffered several bruises and scratches, but did not suffer from any bone structures.

According to witnesses there was an argument between the driver of a Mini hardtop and a pedestrian on San Vicente Boulevard, north of Santa Monica Boulevard. The driver accelerated southbound and crossed a red light and made a sharp 360 degree turn on the rainbow crosswalk and then headed west on Santa Monica Boulevard. The driver sideswiped two pedestrians and he struck Hernandez head on. Hernandez landed on the hood of the car and was transported down Santa Monica Boulevard. He slid off the car and rolled onto the street when the driver made a sharp turn heading north on Hilldale Avenue. The driver left the scene.

Hernandez’s boyfriend, Raul Elcantar, 29, tells WEHO TIMES that his boyfriend Angel joined him in West Hollywood after work. He took an Uber to the LGBT Rainbow District and were only out for about a half hour before he was hit by the vehicle. They had just made a quick stop at Fiesta Cantina. He says the driver of the Mini appeared to be inebriated.

The couple are seeking witness testimonies, photos and videos to hopefully identify the driver and bring the person to justice. He says he is grateful that his boyfriend is OK, but he has been in the hospital and under observation since he was taken in at 2am. He says the two other victims were clipped by the Min and they appeared to have been able to walk away from the incident. His boyfriend Angel was not so lucky.

Elcantar added that he witnessed the incident, but he says the Sheriff’s deputies would not take a police report of what he witnessed, which thought was odd.

The watch captain at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station on Sunday afternoon said the incident is currently under investigation and that they are not able to provide any information at this moment.

“You guys need to be very careful and use crosswalks in WEHO,” posted Tony Gagliardi, who is a local DJ in the LGBT Rainbow district. Not all cars will stop for you!!! On my way home from DJing at Mother Lode tonight I saw a small group of people trying to help someone who just got ran over or something dramatic. The person was not moving and the cops came on the side of Santa Monica Blvd and San Vicente. It was very sad to watch [it’ happen and I hope that person is okay. At least 6 cop cars were there. Please be careful and have friends with you if you go out drinking and use a damn crosswalk, please! And don’t run across the middle of the street. Just wow! 😭 My heart sank…”

Clearly the pedestrians had an attitude and provoked the incident by punching his car at 1:30am at the interaction of San Vicente Boulevard, north of Santa Monica Boulevard.

Sadly, these boys need to stop thinking the road is for them at any hour of the night.

    Lesson learned, we hope.

    Thanks.

This used to be Gay Disneyland for guests (visitors to our city). Now you take your life in your hands just visiting: pickpockets, random stabbing, gun at the abbey, armed robberies, robbery plus hit and run, hit and run.

You are so right. Gay Disneyland AKA Boys Town was West Hollywood. Then we had political correctness. Then we had Horvath. Followed by the dreadful Shyne. Next on the horizon is the gay embarrassment of all times… Erickson! Take back gay and disassociate yourself with the L-BTWA Industrial complex. It’s about turning gay life into glum life. After all, remember the old saying… Gays are fun, Dykes of glum. Will we got one now as a mayor.

Wait a minute: there was a hit-and-run accident including injuries requiring hospitalization, and the sheriffs deputies wouldn’t take a report?? Can someone explain that to me? Are we holding that department with any accountability whatsoever? They never take reports. What the hell is that? That’s not law enforcement. That’s Some kind of clown ass bullshit. We pay for that?
