The Domain Hosts Coffee With Mayor John Erickson

The Domain WeHo Apartments at 7141 Santa Monica Boulevard held a Coffee With the Mayor event on Saturday, May 4, 2024, with West Hollywood Mayor John Erickson. The event was hosted by former West Hollywood Rent Stabilization Commissioners Richard Maggio, Historic Preservation Commissioner Lola Davidson, and The Domain staff as part of a monthly meet-and-greet with the mayor. Last month, the event took place at Fan Girl Cafe.

The event provided live music entertainment. Breakfast Republic provided pastry treats, and the coffee came from the local Starbucks nearby in the West Hollywood Gateway. Community members and residents of The Domain had an opportunity to chat with the Mayor as well as law enforcement in attendance and ask questions or raise concerns about issues important to them in the city.

Council member Sepi Shyne joined the Mayor for coffee at the event. Also in attendance were Public Safety Director Danny Rivas, Deputies of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station, Block by Block ambassadors, and city commissioners and board members.

Coffee with Mayor Erickson is a separate event from the meetup he hosts once a month on Saturdays at Plummer Park, where the mayor sets up a table at The Great Lawn and spends the morning greeting and talking to residents. It’s his way of making himself accessible. The next Saturday in Plummer Park with John will be on May 11.

“Have an issue? Need to get connected to services? Just want to chat with your Mayor Pro Tempore? This is our twenty-seventh event in Plummer Park, and I’m looking forward to you all joining us! Bring a chair, a reusable cup for some coffee, and your dog (or cat), and let’s talk! Come out to the Great Lawn (along Vista St.) at Plummer Park and meet and speak with West Hollywood Mayor Pro Tempore John M. Erickson. Can’t make this event? Email John at [email protected].”

The City of West Hollywood does a horrible job of advertising these meet and greet events. Why is it we mainly hear about them afterwards?

This was hosted by the Domain- and I think they only notified the building- but I do get that messaging is sometimes frustrating. The city of Weho site has a calendar for official events and these sorts of events are more often posted on social- either the Mayor’s or whichever council member (I don’t think Heilman does…. I’ve not seen/found his social) And I always tell people: FB. I get the FB hate but it’s just useful. there are a ton of weho themed pages (Weho Neighbors Helping Neighbors, West Hollywood West Residents Association, Weho Passion for Pets etc) Weho… Read more »
