why is this wonderful PRIVATE event held at a public facility? The people that pay for West Hollywood PUBLIC Park, lose access for two weeks, in addition to having to start using the park with dead grass, divots in the dead grass and crews repainting the park. And who pays for this? The very tax payers that are not invited to this wonderful PRIVATE event and lose access for two weeks. It’s a great event but I’m not really sure why they need to close off these public areas for 2 weeks. Couldn’t this all be done in 1 week or less?

Closing a dog park and basketball court for 2 WEEKS for an event that lasts a few hours is insane.

This pisses me off every year.

This “fundraiser” is an excuse for influencers and celebrities to dress up and try to act important….most of whom don’t even live in this city.

The party raises $9M to help those with HIV/AIDS. While inconvenient, we can make a sacrifice for the good it does.

Where are dog owners and residents supposed to go instead? Those who have mobility issues, the elderly and those who don’t have cars are going to be trapped in their homes so that the haves can have their fun. Low income residents have rights to green spaces too.

I live in the downtown Los Angeles skid row neighborhood and we have no park with large amounts of trees and grass. The parks we do have have been taken over by transients and drug addicts. The parks are surrounded by tent encampments. What a wholesome environment.

There are so many huge indoor event spaces that could host this party and raise the same amount.
