Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD) detectives arrested female suspect Maricia Medrano–a female 35-year-old Hispanic, who assaulted boutique employees with a gun and later threatened them with a machete.
The incident happened at the Kardashian-owned DASH boutique, on the 8400 block of Melrose Ave in West Hollywood, on Thursday, September 21 around 11:13 a.m. Medrano returned with a machete at 1:50p.m.
LASD reports that Medrano entered the boutique and pointed a gun at an employee and shouted, “Stay away from Cuba.” She then knocked items off the counter and pointed the gun at a second employee before she exited the store.
Later that afternoon, at approximately 1:25 p.m., she returned to the same business wielding a machete that’s approximate 14 inches in length. She paced back and forth several times in front of the business with the machete in hand, shouting. She wedged the weapon between the door and the door frame and left it there before leaving the scene.

Detectives showed up at Medrano’s residence in Los Angeles with an arrest and search warrant at 9p.m. that same evening. She was arrested and taken into custody without incident.
A search of the home was conducted where detectives recovered two airsoft guns from the scene. The airsoft guns appear to be similar to the weapon possessed by the suspect during the first assault. Airsoft guns shoot plastic pellets and are legal to own in most states. They are generally safe for competitive sporting and recreational purposes if proper protective gear is worn.
The incident happened not long after a transient man attacked another man with ax on September 2, at a 7-Eleven on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood. That man was also captured and is currently attempted murder charges.
Medrano was booked at West Hollywood Station for assault and criminal threats. She is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
