The City of West Hollywood is partnering with American Red Cross for a “Sound the Alarm” fire prevention event at Plummer Park. The event will be taking place at Vista Lawn, 1200 N Vista Street, West Hollywood, CA 90046, on Saturday, May 7, 2022, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
The event is brought to the community by the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region to educate residents and community members on home fire prevention safety and provide free installation of smoke alarms. Community members interested in scheduling a smoke alarm installation appointment, can call (310) 445-9914 or email Jasmine Duckworth at [email protected].
According the American Red Cross, home fires claim seven lives every day, but you can help change that; having working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half. Join the American Red Cross during a local Sound the Alarm event this May as part of the organization’s national efforts to rally volunteers to install 50,000 free smoke alarms nationwide, as part of our Sound the Alarm events in more than 50 at-risk communities. No prior experience is necessary; they’ll provide all the training you’ll need.
Please note that you may participate in Red Cross events if you are not vaccinated against COVID-19 so long as you wear a mask, and that you wear a mask at the request of a client regardless of your vaccination status. Masks will be provided at each event. This event will be held rain or shine.
For those who wish to volunteer, videos are available introducing the American Red Cross Sound the Alarm, Save a Life initiative to Home Fire Visit Team volunteers. There are five video training modules volunteers are encouraged to view prior to serving on a Home Fire Visit Team that will install smoke alarms in a community near you. For optimal video quality, choose 480p HD as the YouTube player’s Quality setting.
