Solo exhibition showing new works by renowned American artist Jenny Holzer is now open for viewing at Hauser & Wirth West Hollywood, located at 8980 Santa Monica Boulevard. The exhibit will run from September 1st – October 31, 2023. There was a grand opening reception on August 31st. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am – 6 pm. Admission is free.
“Known for thought-provoking and politically charged works that span mediums including painting, sculpture, light projection and installation, Holzer stands among the most influential artists of our time,” reads a description on the gallery’s website. “Through the use of language, she challenges viewers’ preconceived notions and encourages them to question the systems and structures that shape our society. Opening in September, Holzer’s exhibition will feature recent paintings and curse tablets, as well as three kinetic displays – further testaments to her ability to push the boundaries of contemporary art.”

Jenny Holzer is an American conceptual and installation artist whose work deploys text in public spaces across an array of media, including electronic signs, carved stone, paintings, billboards, and printed materials. Holzer’s oeuvre provokes public debate and illuminates social and political justice. Celebrated for her inimitable use of language and projects in the public sphere, Holzer creates a powerful tension between the realms of feeling and knowledge, with a practice that encompasses both individual and collective experiences of power and violence, vulnerability and tenderness.
About Hauser and Wirth West Hollywood Gallery:
Located in the heart of West Hollywood, Hauser and Wirth gallery occupies the former site of a vintage automobile sales showroom where a white stucco façade and red tile roofing typify the distinctive 1930s Spanish Colonial Revival style of Hollywood’s Golden Age. The location has been transformed into a 6,000 square foot exhibition space by architect Annabelle Selldorf of Selldorf Architects. Exhibitions are free to attend. No advance booking necessary.
