Soap opera legend Dame Joan Collins, was spotted at Abbey Food & Bar last night. Owner David Cooley hosted the star with an evening of cocktails. Go-go dancers gave her Hollywood star treatment with an impromptu dance. Coolie made sure the VIP section was stocked with the best wine and champagne, as Joan toasted the night with a glass of white wine (as classy women do) and danced to Michael Jackson’s “PYT pretty young thing.”
Collins has a lot to celebrate. She recently secured a role on the new season of American Horror Story. AHS producer Ryan Murphy recently revealed that Evan Peters will play a comedic hair stylist, while Collins will play his grandmother in Season 8. AHS veterans Peters, Sarah Paulson and Kathy Bates have also been been confirmed for Season 8. According to rumors the show will be called American Horror Story: Radioactive. The show is expected to start shooting in mid-June.
Joan Collins will also be appearing on the stage in Newcastle. She will perform her one-woman show, “Unscripted”, at the city’s Tyne Theatre & Opera House in September, which is all about her life in Hollywood.
The Abbey Food & Bar is not stranger to Hollywood royalty. Many celebrities love to hang out at The Abbey. The biggest being Elizabeth Taylor, who was a regular at the gay bar. She was known to visit once a week. The actress would be seen sipping tequila shots, downing watermelon and apple martinis or simply waving merrily from her wheelchair, before she passed in 2011 at age 79.
