Robbery Suspect Arrested at WeHo Pride is Same Suspect who Assaulted Protester at Drag Queen Reading Hour

A robbery suspect was arrested in West Hollywood during WeHo Pride weekend on Saturday, June 3, 2023, on Santa Monica Boulevard. West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station Captain William Moulder tells WEHO TIMES the suspect is the same individual who assaulted a protestor at Drag Queen Reading hour outside the West Hollywood library in April, 2023.

Captain Moulder says they identified the person and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Saturday of Pride weekend the person in question was recognized by deputies and taken into custody with minimal disruption to Pride activities.

Videos have been circulating on social media also show a woman getting arrested, but the videos don’t tell the full story.

The West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station released a statement following the arrest:

“On Wednesday, [April 15, 2023], a robbery occurred at the West Hollywood library. The suspect stole the victim’s cell phone. West Hollywood Station Detectives later identified the suspect as Hunter Lee Darling. On May 31, 2023, an arrest warrant for Suspect Darling was issued by a judge.

On Saturday, June 3, 2023, deputies saw Suspect Darling during a ‘Pride Weekend’ event. West Hollywood deputies arrested Suspect Darling and booked him at West Hollywood Station for robbery, vandalism, and battery. During Suspect Darling’s arrest, Abby Nicole Thomas, a friend of Suspect Darling’s, intervened and prevented the deputies from safely completing the arrest. Abby was arrested and booked for interfering and obstructing an arrest.

West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station polices the City of West Hollywood and the unincorporated communities of Franklin Canyon, Universal City (which includes Universal Theme Park, Studios, and Citywalk), and the Federal Enclave in West Los Angeles.”

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Inmate Information Center, Darling has a bail of $100K and a court date of June 6, 2023.

Editor’s note: This article was updated to reflect update the date on the statement which states the incident occurred on April 19, 2023, but Drag Queen Story Hour happened on April 15, 2023.

Who even rates these articles? “Five stars” and nothing of the witnessed behavior of the police or the VIOLENTLY anti-LGBTQAI musings of the maniac who filed the report against the arrested… WOW.

puff puff puff… lick lick lick.

One can argue as to whether the charges in the warrant are justified. Regardless, there was a felony warrant and the person named on the warrant was recognized by deputies.

I don’t believe many people in West Hollywood want the city to be a felon sanctuary city.

    Well done, LASD.

How convenient y’all completely don’t mention the rude, queer-phobic comments and jokes the cops were making and how the first person arrested was just telling the cops they were being disrespectful. Shame on you for taking LASD for their word and publishing it as fact when it has been well documented they lie. There’s no evidence to support either accusation by LASD about previous incidents.

Not what happened at all. This is a pathetic puff piece for the city of West Hollywood, and you should be ashamed to call yourself a journalist. This is what happens when you only talk to the police for a story.

They just happened to identify him AFTER being told that cops weren’t welcome at pride because of their behavior? Sure, Jan.

Can’t believe that a website that has so much queerness going on would be so quick to lick boots.

Wild spin ya put on that. Shameful! Pride is a protest, yet you’re in bed with the cops.

Somehow this isn’t the same story that’s being told on social media. Who’s lying? You? The cops? Seriously can I get some factual information???

People who there and recorded what happened are telling a different story than LASD. You know, LASD who has been regularly been caught lying so much their last sheriff couldn’t get re-elected.
