Revolver Video Bar in West Hollywood is officially under new ownership. Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) lists Bob’s Garage Bar, LLC as the new primary owner of the bar located at 8851 Santa Monica Boulevard, on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Larrabee Street. The bar’s name is also going back to its previous name which is simply Revolver (dropping the Video Bar from its business title). Richard Allan King is listed as Manager, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary Treasurer.
The bar’s website currently states that it is “proudly gay owned and operated, Revolver Video Bar has been a staple in West Hollywood Boys Town for over 30 years. Known for having the ‘friendliest staff on the Boulevard’ , Revolver is open 5 days a week! Weekdays offer Happy Hour, karaoke and drag shows while weekends turn up the heat with live DJ’s, Gogo dancers and laser light shows!”
It is not yet known if the bar will continue to be gay owned.
Revolver Video Bar reopened on October 26, 2011, after closing in 2004. A new bar called East/West Lounge opened at the space in 2005, but it only lasted until 2011. Chris Miller brought back Revolver Video Bar with Alfredo Diaz in an effort to preserve the bar’s history. Miller bought out Diaz after several disputes, which include Miller’s accusation that Diaz was embezzling money.
Revolver first opened in 1982. It took its name from its famous revolving door and made a name for itself for its large video screens above the bar that featured music videos, campy video collages, and the bar hosted a series of viewing parties for popular TV shows.
According to ABC the transfer of the on-sale general liquor license and caterers permit is currently pending as of August 4, 2023.
I don’t give a crap who owns a revolver I just want the drinks served and I’m sick of them not taking cash at the bar so I encourage my friends and I just bring a flask and we just drink down in the bathroom stalls and come up lit and ready to pick up Guys to take home and have sex with with
It looks like Revolver had been saved yet again. I did not want to see Flaming Saddles take over that corner.
Fond memories back in the day when The Blue Parrot was in this location.
I’m glad that you’re still alive and can share these memories with us …we also need to bring back cruising behind the alleys and sex in the bathrooms so we can create some new memories together
I’m not sure if you are being sarcastic or not but I never participated in those activities. Call me prudish if you will. However, the 8709 Bathhouse was just down the street and I loved it there. The Palace of Fine Arts as a friend of mine used to call it.
