The city of West Hollywood recently nabbed two awards recognizing excellence in website design by the National Association of Government Web Professionals (NAGW). The city’s revamped website was presented with the awards at the 2018 NAGW Pinnacle Awards Banquet on Thursday, September 13, 2018, which was held in conjunction with NAGW’s Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The City of West Hollywood won both the Pinnacle and Members’ Choice awards in the category of City, Small Population. The NAGW Pinnacle Awards are judged by a group of web professionals inside and outside of the government web industry and are awarded to the best entries based on the following judging criteria: team size, content, organization, design, performance and flexibility, accessibility standards, interactivity, open data, and responsive design. Additionally, the NAGW membership voted on the Members’ Choice awards from among the entries in each category.
The new weho.org website launched on June 27, at around 3pm. The site uses bold colors and innovative design which are a direct reflection of a city brimming with uniqueness and pride. Every facet of its design is tailored to meet the needs of community members, while projecting the heart and soul of the City.

“We were long overdue for a redesign,” Brett White, Digital Media Officer of the City of West Hollywood, told WEHO TIMES after the launch. “Although our old website served us well over the years, it was time for something new and fresh. This new look/design gives users easy access to the content they seek most – all presented in a modern, dynamic, and interactive environment. The process began with a 6-month long UX Analysis that included both quantitative and qualitative tracks that not only told us what our constituents are looking for, but how they are looking for it. The results of this analysis served as foundation for the design. Basically, our users designed this site.”
