80’s pop icon, songwriter, producer and actress Debbie Gibson, was recently honored with the 425th Golden Palm Star on the Palm on Friday, April 20. Her star is sponsored by Crystal Miller and the charity In Our Own Quiet Way (quietway.org)
The pop singer is widely remembered for hits like “Foolish Beat,” “Only in My Dreams,” “Lost in Your Eyes,” and “Out of the Blue.” She also the youngest person to write, produce and sing a number-one single entirely on her own when “Foolish Beat” hit the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart on June 25, 1988.
Chico’s Angels were among the presenters at the unveiling of the Golden Palm Star. The three beautiful and comedic Latina drag queen detectives, Kay Sedia, Chita Parol & Frieda Laye were on hand to ham it up for the cameras. Chico’s Angels have a new show, VIVA LAS CHICAS, opening on Thursday, May 24, 2018, with eight shows locked at The Cavern Club Celebrity Theater (1920 Hyperion Ave, Silverlake, CA 90027). Then, the Angels will take the show on the road for 3 performances at Oscar’s Cafe & Bar (125 E Tahquitz Canyon Way #108 Palm Springs, CA 92262). Tickets are now on sale for all performances at: www.chicosangels.com.
“It was a joyous occasion in celebration of a pop icon who is not only an amazing person, a warm giving human being who helps inspire young artist with their dreams and musical aspirations,” said Mike Pingel, who represents Chico’s Angels. “Debbie has always been a supporter of Chico’s Angels. She’s been to the shows, more than anybody. She is a true angel!”
