West Hollywood city council hopefuls gathered at various bars in the Rainbow District to celebrate their campaigns and host Election Night Watch Parties. The rain kept a lot of people from going out on a wet Tuesday night, but some candidates still gathered a decent crowd.
Candidates Marquita Thomas and Sarah Adophso appeared in high spirits as they posed for pictures and mingled with campaign volunteers, friends and supporters. They even took photos inside the Micky’s disco photo booth.
Incumbent Lauren Meister hosted her Watch part at The Abbey Food & Bar. She was surrounded by supporters and residents who wanted selfies with the current Mayor of West Hollywood. The Abbey was not very photographer friendly (we were thrown out for having a professional camera) and the staff seemed completely clueless and tone deaf to what was happening around the country as maps tallied votes on the big screens. The venue also cranked the music up very loudly at 9:30pm, so it didn’t make for a pleasant viewing party experience. However, that did not seem to bother Mayor Meister who seemed in high spirits as the early numbers showed her in the lead.
Zekiah Wright had a lively crowd at their Election Day Watch Party at Gym Bar. Zekiah was joined by their mother who flew out of state for the big Election night. “I’m beyond excited and extra nervous,” said Zekiah. “I know we won’t have the results for a while, but super excited for everyone that actually exercised their right to vote and made a change in how government is going to look in the next couple of years. The best part of campaigning has been meeting voters, but we have to continue having these convos.”
Robert Oliver was at Stache WeHo. He had a joint event with Rick Chavez Zbur, who was running for California Assembly District 51. Los Angeles Assessor and former West Hollywood council member and Mayor Jeffrey Prang was in the audience to show both men his support. Council member John Erickson was also at the event to hear both men give speeches to a crowd of supporters.
Steve Martin decided to be a part of it all. He visited all the candidates at their events to congratulate them and wish them well. He ended the evening at The Abbey.
Candidate for LA County Supervisor and West Hollywood council member, Lindsey Horvath had a big bash at Heart WeHo with catered food and drinks and a live DJ. The race is close between her and her opponent State Sen. Bob Hertzberg (D-Van Nuys) who has a slight lead over the West Hollywood City Councilmember. She said it was too soon to tell and that she will be hopeful until the last vote is counted.
Chelsea Byers took her Election Night Party to The Sunset Strip at State Social House located at 8782 W Sunset Boulevard.
Jordan Cockeram stayed home while he recovered from the flu. He had originally planned to host an event at The Chapel.
John Duran also stayed home. He said he was packing to go on a trip to Texas to visit family.
Candidate Ben Savage said he would be with family on Election Day and planned to venture out during the evening.
It is not yet clear how Adam Darvish and John Heilman spent Election Night 2022.
I don’t believe that’s Rick Caruso with Robert Oliver! That’s Rick Chavez Zbur!
