PHOTOS – Scary Monsters and Super Freaks Come Out for Dragstrip 66

Dragstrip 66 gave a spooktacular evening full of Scary Monsters and Super Freaks, this past Saturday, with appearances by drag royalty Jackie Beat and Kay Sedia. The dance party included super eclectic music and SPOOKTACULAR costumes with live performances (meaning no lip-synching), and a chance to win a costume prize of $666 (see what they did there?).

The evening was held at Los Globos in Silverlake with the doors opening at 8pm and performance is around 9:30 with DJ Paul V rocking the crowd with spooky upbeat music.

The evening was held at Los Globos in Silver Lake with doors opening at 7pm, performances around 9:30pm, and DJ’s Paul V. and Tommy Rocker spinning spooky edgy dance music.
The evening started with Dragstrip’s hostess with the mostest, Gina Lotriman, who was all dressed up in items that were given to her by the late Worthie Paul Meacham (known as drag personality Momma, who passed away earlier this month). Lotriman performed “Monster In My Dress” then introduced two videos celebrating the lives of Dragstrip 66 bar tender doorman (and Eagle bartender) Clint Yeager, and then Momma. In the video, Momma herself confirmed she was indeed born at Dragstrip 66 in 1994 when she won the costume contest.

Randy Salter came on stage and told the crowd about the Momma’s upcoming memorial, which will be held in January, 2024, at Hollywood United Methodist Church.

And the winner of Dragstrip’s “Scary’s Monsters & Super Freaks” costume contest, was the simplest of them all, yet the most hilarious: Dudley Beene who served the crowd none other than Britney Spears dancing with her knives.

Other performances included Kay Sedia (who turned a Harry Styles hit into a Halloween candy-themed parody), and then Jackie Beat did three songs, including Van Halen’s “Running With The Devil.”

The costumes were different levels of creativity, from the over-the-top, to the absurd. There was a Vampire Cop; Britney Spears dancing with knives,  Cloud and Thunder; Bear witches; Thursday Wednesday, 3 Gina Lotriman, to name a few.

After Miss Britney collected her $666.00, and the contest ended, attendees hit the dance floor. They danced and partied the night away until midnight.

It’s yet another Dragstrip 66 for the LGBTQ+ history books.
