Out and About with Mike Pingel – The Granville West Hollywood

The Granville West Hollywood invites you to “Come as You Are,” even if you are in your yoga outfit, causal jeans, business suite or gym attire.

The restaurant, located on 8701 Beverly Boulevard (where Jerry’s Famous Deli once stood), recently celebrated the unveiling of their new neon sign located on the exterior of the building. I was invited to join the festivities. The sign says “Come as you are,” so I showed up California casual in a polo shirt, dark jeans and tennis shoes. I was treated to a taste of all the special items The Granville West Hollywood has to offer during their Happy Hour.

The staff was extremely knowledgeable and super friendly. Beau Hirshfield, the bartender whipped up some of Granville’s signature Handcrafted cocktails. Some of these delicious drinks include the Gran Fashioned, which blends Elijah Craig bourbon, house made cherry-vanilla bitters, angostura & orange bitters plus molasses& port cherry; the fun, Wake n’ Bacon, which includes rye whiskey, egg whites, bacon, chocolate stout maple syrup and lemon juice; and something crisp like the Ginger Julep, which shakes Elijah Craig bourbon, ginger liqueur, berry lemonade. Another great drink is the Tipsy Lemonade, which includes refreshing raspberry vodka, berry lemonade & pomegranate. One of my favorites was is the Cucumber Martini with organic Meyer lemon vodka & lemon.

The Granville holds Happy Hour every weekday from 3-7pm. The menu offers Craft Beers for $5, Wine $7, Cocktails assortments at $7 & $9.

Happy Hour also includes an assortment of their best signature bites from $5, $7 & $9. The menu includes everyone’s favorite Uptown Mac & Cheese which is a “healthy” version of the traditional dish with pieces of chicken, fresh peas and asparagus.

One of my all-time favorites is the Flatbread Chicken & Blue, which is a delightful combination of chicken, fontina, mozzarella, fig, blue cheese, prosciutto, pine nuts, red onion, my top favorite.

Then the surprise of the night for me was the smoked salmon spread & rye crisps, which is a blend of dill, horseradish and cream cheese. This was simply amazing (and I normally don’t like fish items)—and you go wrong with their Grilled Cheese Dipper, which is a petit bisque, gruyere, parmesan, caramelized onions, mustard, garlic aioli, tomato bisque.

And for desert? Well, there is only one thing for me on the desert menu, the Devil’s Advocate Flourless Chocolate Cake. It’s a devilish OMG yummy desert. It’s warm with a cream cheese frosting finished off with a port cherry – A must (I had two).

The Granville offers a lunch, dinner and a brunch menu. The restaurant seats 300 people and has a charming private party room for special events. The West Hollywood location is located where Jerry’s Famous Deli use to be. You’d never recognize it after the remodel. The only remaining piece of Jerry’s Deli is the supporting beam.

When driving down Beverly Blvd, look for the blue neon sign “Come as You Are” and come on in and enjoy great hospitality and some of the freshest, highest quality food—but remember just because The Granville encourages you and your friends to get comfortable in a home-like setting, but there are limits. You can sweat pants, prom dresses, suites, tee shirt & jeans, but make sure you wear something.

See you at The Granville West Hollywood!
