Our Queer Life Documentarian, Matt Cullen, Interviews WeHo Queen Salina Estitties

Documentarian and journalist Matt Cullen interviewed Jason De Puy, also known as West Hollywood drag queen Salina Estitties, for his documentary series “Our Queer Life.” Salina Estitties gained recognition for competing in season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She welcomed Cullen into her home in WeHo and backstage at her performance with other queens at Heart WeHo to delve into her experiences.

De Puy discussed his auditioning process and landing the opportunity to compete in RuPaul’s Drag Race, the controversy involving his confrontation with Ross Mathews, his struggle with crystal meth addiction, achieving sobriety, navigating fame and fan interactions, and coping with the loss of his mother amidst it all.

The documentary also provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse into a show at Heart WeHo, situated in the heart of West Hollywood’s LGBT Rainbow District.

“Our Queer Life” shines a light on the diverse stories within the queer community, showcasing individuals who have led unconventional lives. From a street hustler with a history of incarceration since 1992 to TS Madison, the first Black trans woman to executive produce her own reality show, the series highlights the complexity, strength, and beauty of the queer community. “I have had the most amazing time meeting all of the different queer people on the show and I truly feel so lucky to have them in my life now,” Cullen expressed in his bio.

Go to Micky’s on a Monday night and you will find out that Weho is definitely NOT over drag.

Drag is more than just a produced tv show.

I remember Salina working the smoothie bar at Barry’s years ago. So cool to see her success! A true Weho queen for the people.
