Ocean Prime Delivers Decadent Surf and Turf in Beverly Hills

Ocean Prime, the American supper club serving up steaks, seafood, and handcrafted cocktails in the 90210 zip code, is the perfect location to indulge in surf and turf specialties.

Diners can choose to sit in the large indoor dining room designed in lavish steakhouse décor with white tablecloths, dark wood and comfy big booths or eat al fresco on the pretty romantic patio.

We dined before the June 15th re-opening and sat in the roomy bar section between the patio and the main dining room. Ocean Prime has an extensive cocktail and wine list to choose from including a variety of custom cocktails. We chose the berries and bubbles, a blend of Belvedere Citrus Vodka, marinated blackberries, lemon, Domain Chandon Brut and dry ice smoke. This splashy and refreshing cocktail set the mood for an exceptional dinner.

In addition to their large selection of libations, Ocean Prime also offers a huge selection of seafood. Sushi options include a variety of shrimp, salmon, tuna and vegetable rolls as well as oysters, crab and shrimp cocktails and their impressive cocktail tower.

We chose to begin our meal with a selection of tuna, salmon and Hamachi sashimi and their outstanding white truffle caviar deviled eggs. Other appetizers include the goat cheese ravioli, calamari with sweet chili sauce, sea scallops and short ribs, steak tartar, jumbo lump crab cakes and a variety of salads.

For the next few months, California celebrates halibut season and Ocean Prime will be offering a few special dishes on their menu. In addition to halibut, diners can enjoy striped bass with corn spoon bread, teriyaki salmon, Ahi tuna, lemon sole, lobster tails, scallops, crab cakes and Chilean sea bass. There is also chicken, pork and lamb options.

We decided to indulge in two filets, both season and broiled at 1200 degrees and cooked perfectly. Bigger appetites can choose from a bone-in filet, New York Strip or rib eye. There are a variety of sauces to accompany steaks including béarnaise, black truffle butter, and blue cheese as well as a blue cheese crust and shrimp scampi additions.

Sides include roasted garlic mashed potatoes, loaded baked potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower, roasted Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, corn, black truffle mac and cheese, lobster mac and cheese, asparagus and hollandaise sauce, bacon creamed spinach and a jalapeno au gratin potato dish.

Most entrees, except for the steak options, come with a side vegetable which is a nice plus for those ordering seafood dishes.

Desserts don’t disappoint and include a ten-layer carrot cake, chocolate peanut butter pie, warm butter cake with berries, crème brulee, sorbets and a beautiful chocolate cake with ice cream and chocolate sauce.

Ocean Prime is located at 9595 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, reservations at 310.859.4818.
