An honorary display will be placed at the Sal Guarriello Veterans Memorial, located at the corner of Holloway Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard in remembrance of our fallen heroes. Community members are invited to stop by to honor those who sacrificed their lives in service to their country.

The Sal Guarriello Veterans’ Memorial maximizes green space while incorporating components honoring veterans including four flagpoles, a row of shields commemorating the five branches of the United States Armed Forces, a dedication plaque and poetry quoted from former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky.

Approximately 7,000 square feet of landscaping such as Redwood and Laurel trees, grasses and shrubs highlight the park, along with benches and decomposed granite walkways. The design of the Sal Guarriello Veterans’ Memorial represents a collaboration of the City’s Veterans’ Memorial Task Force, the Fine Arts Commission and the design firm Campbell and Campbell Architects-Planners-Landscape Architects.

In 2003, the City of West Hollywood completed construction of the Veterans’ Memorial. As part of this project, the West Hollywood City Council requested that accommodations for a future Water Feature be included at the site. On September 21, 2009, the City Council renamed the site as the Sal Guarriello Veterans’ Memorial, in honor of the late City Councilmember Sal Guarriello who was instrumental in the construction of the original project and the design process of the Water Feature.

The City of West Hollywood hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Sal Guarriello Veterans’ Memorial for the dedication of the new Water Feature on April 15, 2011. The design of the Water Feature depicts the rising and falling of cascading water over the brim of an eight-foot tall inverted cone-shaped element into an awaiting water basin.
