Melrose Place Series is Getting a Reboot with Original Characters

Fans of the hit ’90s drama “Melrose Place” REJOICE! The iconic apartment complex prepares for a revival. According to Deadline, Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton, and Daphne Zuniga are set to reunite for a new series, reviving their beloved characters from the original show.

The reboot, currently in development at CBS Studios, promises to revisit the narratives of the past while offering a fresh perspective for more modern audiences. Although details remain tentative, sources suggest that the series is being pitched to various networks and streaming platforms, including Fox, the original home network of “Melrose Place.”

Created by Darren Star, who is also the man behind the popular show “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “Melrose Place” captivated audiences with its portrayal of young adults navigating life in what is now being referred to as a West Hollywood apartment complex, even though the real Melrose Place is located in the city of Los Angeles a stone’s throw away from WeHo. Locklear portrayed the iconic Amanda Woodward, while Leighton and Zuniga left indelible marks with their portrayals of Sydney Andrews and Jo Reynolds, respectively.

The revival, distinct from the 2009 CW reboot, promises to dive into the lives of the original characters as they reunite under tragic circumstances. A synopsis reveals that the sudden death of a dear friend sets the stage for a reunion fraught with old tensions, rekindled romances, and buried secrets, promising a whirlwind of drama reminiscent of the past.

Locklear, Leighton, and Zuniga are not only reprising their roles but also taking on executive producer duties alongside writers Lauren Gussis, Tiffany Grant, and Jason Weinberg. Additionally, reports suggest that more original cast members may join the revival, adding to the ensemble that captivated audiences in the ’90s.

With the promise of intrigue and nostalgia, fans eagerly anticipate the revival’s debut, hoping to see how it measures up to the beloved original. As anticipation builds, viewers can revisit the drama-filled world of “Melrose Place” through streaming platforms like Paramount+ and Prime Video while awaiting further updates on the reboot.

Some privileged self-centered white people with absolutely no sense of social responsibility living in a gilded fortress apartment complex that’s like a mini gated community to shelter themselves from the reality of life on this planet having far more serious concerns than their personal relationship problems. That just about sums it up. What’s even worse is that it seems like stuff like this which is the last thing we really need, ends up being the first thing to bring in the money.

You got that one right❗ I can’t recall making it through a single episode of the 90’s version without breaking into fits of hysterical laughter over how stupid the whole thing is.

There is plenty to complain about in that source you provided in that it’s sexist to the point of demeaning Women & Women of Color as well, by promoting the stereotype that their interests are and should be limited to trivial matters.
