Matt Damon is Moving to West Hollywood After Acquiring $8.6M Condo

Actor Matt Damon will call the City of West Hollywood home, after acquiring a fourth-floor condo for $8.6 million in the Townscape building at 8899 Beverly Boulevard. According to the Robb Report, Damon will be neighbors with Comcast CEO Brian Roberts who shelled out nearly $9 million for a fifth-floor unit in the same building.

The condo, suited for out-of-state residents working in Los Angeles, offers two bedrooms and two bathrooms within approximately 2,900 square feet. Featuring walls of glass and north-facing views of the Hollywood Hills from most rooms, the residence was initially listed last summer for nearly $9 million.

A standout feature is the 1,600-square-foot private outdoor terrace, described as one of the building’s most expansive spaces. Additional amenities include a gourmet kitchen with Sub-Zero, Miele, and Gagganeau appliances, as well as a primary bedroom suite with dual walk-in closets and Hollywood Hills views.

8899 Beverly is a collection of 40 Tower Residences and 8 Rosewood Houses in the heart of West Hollywood’s Arts and Design District. It fits among the most walkable and vibrant neighborhoods in LA.

On par with the most noteworthy penthouses in the world, these bespoke single-family estates are entirely steel-and-glass enclosures on a 17” thick concrete floor plate, perched above the 8899 Beverly tower with commanding 360-degree views.

8899 made headlines in 2022 when a penthouse was listed for $50,000,000 high above West Hollywood inside in a stunning 10,000 square ft home with unbelievable architecture and an outdoor space offering an incredible 360-degree view.

Putting the $50M aside, the development also includes 15 affordable housing units on the first floor, with rental fees capped at market rates.

According to Robb Report, Damon’s monthly HOA dues for the building, which offers a 24-hour concierge, fitness center, yoga studio, private auto stable, pool, spa, fireplaces, covered dining area, and an onsite Italian restaurant, amount to nearly $5,000.

Previously, Damon and his wife owned a mansion in Pacific Palisades, sold in 2021 for $18 million. They currently reside primarily in New York, splitting their time between properties in Brooklyn Heights and Bedford Hills.

Walls of glass – isn’t he worried about paparazzi? And located in an easily walkable, highly densely populated area of LA. The first floor housing is for middle class civilians too. Surprising choice for a private A list celebrity. Also 9 million is quite a lot for a 2 bedroom apartment. Plus 5 grand a month in HOA fees. He primarily lives in NY. Does he really go to LA often enough to justify such a massive expense? I guess he does, or maybe that amount of money isn’t a concern.

It is a weird purchase for someone like him. I can understand why an out-of-town owner might desire 24/7 security and no responsibilities for landscape/property upkeep, but that price is insane for a 2 bedroom condo.
