Man Impales Himself on Gate While Trying to Break Into West Hollywood Apartment Building

A man impaled himself onto the spike of a gate while he tried to break into an apartment complex at Hancock Avenue in West Hollywood, on Tuesday morning.

Resident Dan Mryglot woke up to moaning sounds coming out of his bedroom a little past 6 a.m. A look outside of his window revealed a man who had jammed his leg into one of the spikes of the gate below his apartment leading to the side of his building which is located just a few buildings north of Santa Monica Boulevard, near the West Hollywood LGBT Rainbow district.

“He wasn’t screaming for help or anything, but he was more like moaning in pain,” he tells WEHO TIMES. “I couldn’t make out what he was saying. He look filthy, so I’d guess he was a homeless person. He was really drunk. The smell of alcohol went all the way up to my window. It looked like his arm was also stuck and he was unable to set himself free. I dialed 911.”

According to Mryglot, the man had climbed a much larger gate located toward the front of the building to get to the second gate where his leg become stuck and he was unable to break free. He said there was some blood, but not a lot which made it unclear how deep the spike pierced into his leg.

“His clothes were dirty and shredded, but he was clean shaven and his hair wasn’t overgrown,” added Mryglot. “You have to be pretty determined to get inside past the first gate, because it is not easy to climb. I’m not sure what his motive was in trying to get inside the building. Mail thieves have targeted our building in the past, but this was very early in the morning.”

Paramedics and LA County Fire Department first responders answered the emergency call promptly. A West Hollywood Sheriff’s deputy was also on the scene. They hoisted the man out of the gate and gave him medical attention. He was taken to a nearby hospital.

Get a good look at this guy because soon West Hollywood Park will be full of people just like him there to use the bathrooms 24/7 for doing drugs and having sex. It’s only going to cost Weho tax payers $400,000/year. You can thank Sepi, John and Chelsea next time you see them.

so its not okay to assume someone’s gender? but it is okay to assume that a person not one of you know is a thief…because someone else who also didnt know the person said he was? or you all must be residents of the apartment complex? How do you know this man doesn’t live here? or how do you we know he was trying to break in? did he confess? i mean if they were looking for a place to break into, im sure they would have found a much less difficult way in. smdh. mama always said dont assume… Read more »

Oh quit your yammering. No assumption was made here. The man does not live in that building. That’s a fact. If you found a total stranger in your backyard, what would you call that? Still confused? Maybe this will clear things up for you: the Miriam-Webster Dictionary literally defines a break-in as “to enter something (such as a building or computer system) without consent or by force.” Look it up. This person entered the building without consent. He entered the building by force when he climbed the first gate, therefore he broke into the building to do Lord knows what.… Read more »

Your post makes sense! If I saw a stranger in my backyard I certainly would not think that he was there to help me do yardwork and clean!

WeHo didn’t have these problems when it was run by old gay white men. Get the young activists out of city hall. Make WeHo gay again.

Yes, because if he had housing and food he wouldn’t be trying to break in somewhere.

He learned nothing other than that he gets free food and medical care when he tries to commit crimes.
