LOVE SHEƎP Exhibition by Little Ricky Now on Display at The Gallery @ Circus of Books WeHo

LOVE SHEƎP, a collection of works by artist Little Ricky is now on display at The Gallery at Circus of Books East in West Hollywood, at 8230 Santa Monica Boulevard. The exhibition features a little bit of everything… his queer pink SHEƎP characters, his colorful Moonsters, Anna Wintour FasSHEƎPnistas, SHEƎP Dreams and his latest series called LITTLEZ.

Aside from the art, the exhibition includes prints, sticker packs, coloring books, and some SHEƎP clothing too.

Little Ricky, whose name is Ricky Sencion, is a native Angeleno, first generation Mexican/ American. He’s a self taught queer artist, who started his career in 1998. In 2013, his life took a sharp turn when he read a quote in an Alexander McQueen biography. In it, he referred to himself not as a black sheep, but as a pink sheep. This idea of being different led him to create his series “SHEƎP.”

The series consists of street art, photography, a 7 year-long dream project, installations and more. In the 11 years of working on the series, he has created close to 1,000 different characters. Along with various group shows, he’s had three solo shows.

In 2022, his show at Wallspace Gallery in West Hollywood allowed him the opportunity to create an immersive art show that was inspired by his feeling of joy and freedom. “In the process of creating this world, I’ve come to see life, myself, and others in a way I’ve always imagined …with joy in my eyes and grace in my heart,” he said. “In the end, I think of my work as feel-good art. It’s an expression of joy that represents and reflects ideas that being different is beautiful. Being different is our superpower. It’s our universal connection.”

The Gallery @ Circus features the works of LGBTQ+ Artists worldwide.  Art is located at both galleries. Circus of Books East at 8230 Santa Monica Blvd and Circus of Books West at 8861 Santa Monica Blvd.  Check here for who is currently being featured, Openings and news about new shows.
