LEGO Rainbow Unicorn Sculpture Awes on Santa Monica Boulevard

The day was overcast and gloomy, but things were pretty gay in a happy way on Santa Monica Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard this afternoon. People passing by may have witnessed a LEGO rainbow unicorn sculpture get built before their eyes as part of an art installation at a bus shelter, close to Rage Nightclub, in the heart of WeHo’s Boystown.

The sculpture is a promotion for the new Fox reality competition series LEGO MASTERS, scheduled to premiere on Fox 11, on Wednesday, February 5.

The LEGO Rainbow Unicorn is a creation by LEGO artists Adam Ward, who designed the entire piece. The white unicorn comes complete with a rainbow colored mane and tail on top of white clouds and a closer look reveals a metallic metropolis inside the fantasy horse’s belly. Lego robot figures are hard at work making the Unicorn gallop or do, whatever it is that LEGO rainbow unicorns do.

The show is Hosted by actor and producer Will Arnett. It is based on the hit British reality-competition series of the same name. LEGO MASTERS brings imagination, design and creativity to life when teams of LEGO enthusiasts go head-to-head, with infinite possibilities and an unlimited supply of LEGO bricks. Teams of two will compete against each other in ambitious brick-building challenges to be crowned the country’s most talented amateur LEGO builders. In each episode, Arnett, alongside expert judges and special guests, will encourage the builders, introduce incredible challenges and put their creations to the test. The competing pairs who impress the judges the most will progress to the next round, until the finale, during which the top teams will face off for a cash prize, the ultimate LEGO trophy and the grand title of LEGO MASTERS.

The LEGO rainbow unicorn will be up for 30 days. It is located on the bus stop in front of SHOWTIME CLOTHING Store at 8915 Santa Monica Blvd. According to a source, FOX picked the City of West Hollywood to feature the only sculpture of its kind. No other LEGO sculpture is being used on a bus shelter to promote the new LEGO MASTERS series.

I’m actually quite offended that these straight artists promoting a straight show would pander to the gay community in West Hollywood with this gross gay cliche. And whats up with the gay looking lego people in the belly of this beast! Nah. Sorry. Fail.
