The final Canvass Update in the West Hollywood Election on Monday, December 5, 2022 indicates that the top vote-getters who have secured one of three West Hollywood city council seats are Lauren Meister (6,070 votes), Chelsea Byers (3,960 votes), and John Heilman (3,917 votes). There are 26,099 registered voters in the City of West Hollywood. The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder has certified the results of November’s election.
The City of West Hollywood’s General Municipal Election was held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Election results were regularly updated and posted by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk as Vote-by-Mail, Conditional, and Provisional ballots were processed and verified through Monday, December 5, 2022.
The City of West Hollywood released a list showing twelve qualified candidates running for city council in the City of West Hollywood General Municipal Election. The 12 candidates in the midterm WeHo elections were Lauren Meister, Chelsea Byers, John Heilman, Zekiah N. Wright, Ben Savage, Robert Oliver, Jordan Cockeram, Adam Darvish, Sarah Adolphson, John Duran, Marquita Thomas, and Steve Martin.
The City Council candidacy nomination process required potential candidates to gather between 20 and 30 signatures by voters registered in West Hollywood. Potential candidates must be at least 18 years old, residents of West Hollywood, and registered voters within the City.
The three newly elected Council members will be sworn-in at the regular meeting of the City Council of the City of West Hollywood on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 6 p.m. The City Council annually elects the City’s Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore in a rotation of Councilmembers and the City Council will elect Council members to serve as Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore at its regular meeting on Monday, December 19, 2022. There will be a City Council Reorganization and Installation meeting on Monday, January 9, 2023.
