Larchmont Charter School in West Hollywood on Lockdown After Reports of Man Brandishing Firearm

Parents of students at Larchmont Charter School in West Hollywood, located at 1265 N Fairfax Ave, had a scare this morning after receiving a call that the school was on lockdown after a man was witnessed brandishing a firearm in the school’s parking lot.

LA County Sheriff’s Department, West Hollywood station reports that a yet-to-be-identified individual drove onto the school grounds, exited the vehicle, brandished a firearm, and pointed it towards the school. No shots were fired. The Sheriff’s Department cannot confirm whether the weapon was real or a replica at this time. The individual has been apprehended and is currently in custody.

Larchmont Charter School was on lockdown. Officials had constant communication with parents, updating them about the lockdown implemented during the incident. The unsettling occurrence took place at the end of the morning carpool as children were being dropped off. The school’s security cameras recorded the incident, and the footage has been handed over to the Sheriff’s Department.

The school is reportedly implementing new security procedures in response to the incident. These measures include a motorized gate, will be implemented on the campus.

The arrested individual, still unidentified, faces serious charges, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
