LA LGBT Center to Host Trans Pride LA 2017

Join the Los Angeles LGBT Center for the 19th annual Trans Pride LA festival on Friday, June 16, and Saturday, June 17.

Trans Pride LA is one of the oldest and largest trans celebrations in the country. The event will feature a name and gender change clinic sponsored by the Transgender Law Center. Interactive workshops will include a self-care workshop, a special activism-through-social-networking, and a Supernova Self-Defense workshop. There will also be a clothing swap; and a photo shoot by Jen Rosenstein for her book Transformational Project.

More than 30 organizations will participate in a resource fair to offer information on a wide selection of services and programs vital to the trans community.

Evening activities include a catered dinner prepared for more than 500 people; a special awards presentation; and a VarieTy show featuring trans performers, including Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, comedian Ian Harvie, and more.

The big kickoff starts on Friday night with a Big Queer Convo featuring Aydian Dowling, a trans activist, motivational speaker, and fitness enthusiast who gained national acclaim in 2015 for being the first trans person to be on the cover of Men’s Health magazine. Immediately following will be an art opening and reception for the We Can Be Heroes exhibit will be held in the adjacent Advocate & Gochis Galleries.
