La Fuente Treatment Center to Host Gift Drive Benefiting the Van Ness Recovery House

La Fuente Hollywood Treatment is hosting a Gift Drive Kick Off this holiday season, with donations benefiting the residents of the Van Ness Recovery House (VNRH). Everyone is invited to join the Gift Drive Kick Off, which will take place this Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at 6pm, at La Fuente Hollywood Treatment Center, located at 5718 Fountain Avenue in Los Angeles. The outdoor event is serving food and drinks and a chance to fellowship. Those who can’t make the event can still donate items at La Fuente until December 19th.

La Fuente is collecting unwrapped gender neutral socks, underwear (S-XXL) and toiletries. Pajamas, makeup and other gift items, are also welcomed.

This the second year that La Fuente is doing the Gift Drive for the VNRH. According to Manny Rodriguez, the founder and CEO of La Fuente, the first gift drive was a huge success.

“This goes back to the idea of being community driven and giving back to the local community,” Rodriguez told WEHO TIMES. “We’re a big supporter of the Van Ness Recovery House. This was a way to keep the people in our community engaged. We engage our stakeholders and our alumni are really involved. Our new clients also get to witness us giving back, which is great.”

“The Van Ness House was a no-brainer,” he added. “They are oldest LGBTQ treatment program in the country. It just made sense for us to help in any way that we can. This past summer we said we really wanted to get involved with LGBTQ youth however we could and we also said we really wanted to get involved with the Van Ness House. This is way for us to not just say we are community-driven, but actually being community-driven.

The Van Ness Recovery House has been serving the recovering LGBTQ+ community since 1973. Their mission statement is to meet the critical and expanding needs of the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, and Transgender community for alcohol and drug addiction recovery. The house utilizes the principles of Alcoholic Anonymous, and provides day and residential treatment, sober living, education, prevention, and outreach services in a socially supportive and chemically free environment. Services are available to anyone regardless of ability to pay or HIV status.
