John Reed Fitness Shows Signs of Life with New Signage at the WeHo Location

John Reed Fitness showed signs of life today after construction workers posted signage announcing the arrival of the highly anticipated West Hollywood location on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Westbourne Drive. Two gold signs went up on the building, one on the side, and the other on the corner, squashing any rumors circulating that the deal was a bust in WeHo.

It is not yet clear how much progress has been made since we last took a peek inside back in early July. John Reed officially announced via their Instagram account that the WeHo location was opening in the winter of 2023/24, stating that “great things take time.”

The John Reed Fitness Santa Monica celebrated its grand opening at 1202 3rd Street Promenade, on the weekend of Friday, June 23rd. Potential members enjoyed free club access to experience the space, along with special programming that included live DJs, classes, and activities throughout the weekend, such as Cupping Therapy by Myodetox and a piercing station. Hopefully that will be the case at the West Hollywood location.

According to photos taken during WeHo Pride weekend, it looks like they are working in the back pool area. It is still not clear if they are keeping the pool. According to rumors, they wanted an indoor pool, but that doesn’t seem to be likely.

The WeHo 24-Hour Fitness gym officially closed on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at exactly 9:00 p.m. Wehoans woke up to a different West Hollywood the morning after. The gym’s closure has changed the ecosystem of gyms in the surrounding area, and some believe has damaged the livelihood of local businesses. The opening of a new John Reed gym at that location may be the answer for many who are finding local gyms like Crunch Fitness and Golds Gym too crowded for comfort. Other community members may find it too expensive to bother. We’ll see what’s in store this winter.

I hope they’ll honor my 24 hour fitness membership? It is $49 a year.

Rates will be $360 for initiation and $100 per month for just use of the weho location, or $150 per month to use any of their locations. It’s that simple everyone.

I never thought about out-of-state bathrooms this could be good! I’ll start checking out bathrooms outside of the city first and then I’ll start working my way to other states and be on a bathroom tour!

The rates were going to be $137 a month is what is employee told me but then he said that they want to be competitive with equinox and raise it a $250 a month! The customers of his gym are going to be the people that live near it and behind it in these apartments and all of these old slutty queens certainly are not going to pay those prices to go cruise the showers every morning noon till night!

    keep your rates LOW!

    or your gonna GO!

Stop spreading misinformation. They will not be charing $250/ month. That is more than Equinox. Their brand new SaMo location is chargin anywhere from $100-150/ month.

    Just stop with your BS.

Great looking addition to the street and this part of SMB. Should give a jolt to new businesses filling in the recent empty store fronts around it.

I can’t wait to see their membership rates given the new minimum wage and benefits requirements for Weho. The same people who demanded these unrealistic benefits will be the first to complain about the membership rates. Golds gym in the Beverly Center will have a big advantage when it opens since that is located in Los Angeles not West Hollywood.

Initiation rate at other John Reed clubs is $360.00 with monthly being $100 to $150 depending on features and if you want multi gym access. Lower then some but in line with most in full service gyms in weho.

Comparing the consumers that would buy a Golds Gym membership to the market this business is aimed at is a total laugh! I would love to see the venn diagram of overlap in their client base.

I know plenty of wealthy people who workout at Golds Gym. This gym is like a W Hotel with weights. If you like that great but most people belong to a gym to workout. If it’s your thing I hope you enjoy it. We’ll see if the party crowd can afford it. I don’t see this being the same crowd as Equinox. Also, Equinox has a lot more gyms to use in a lot more places except possibly in Europe.

If you like John Reed Fitness and feel the membership cost is worth the price for you then you should definitely join it. How do you know I know nothing about it? BTW, JRF’s parent company also owns Heimat on LaBrea and they also own the Gold’s gym brand.

I don’t think you realize how many people are willing to spend $$$ on a clean gym with good equipment. Equinox is over $200/month and PACKED TO THE BRIM. Crunch is insanely packed as well. This place will be a hit right in the center of Weho.

I can’t wait to for John Reed to open

If you are jealous of people who can afford an expensive gym, get a better job! Very rude to put down expensive things people like to pay!
