Jem’s by Monica a boutique specializing in wigs, hair extensions and other hair services is opening soon at 807 Palms Avenue in the heart of West Hollywood’s LGBT Rainbow District. The new business has taken over the former London Fromson brow and Beauty Bar, which specialized in eyelash extensions.
“Our specialty is hair extensions and making our clients look and feel pretty” said owner Monica Selamikio, who recently joined the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. “We also specialize in wigs ranging from synthetic, medium and high quality.”
The salon will also offer haircuts and a hair colorist will also be available.
Monica ran a similar store for the past 17 years on Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills. She says she had been looking for a new home and stumbled across the location in West Hollywood and she fell in love.

She also says she is no stranger to the city of West Hollywood, “I love the City of West Hollywood,” she said. “It’s alive, it’s beautiful and everyone here is very nice. I love our location, it is visible from Santa Monica Boulevard and there is a lot of foot traffic. I’ve always worked in the city and around this area. I worked at Sunset Plaza for many years, at Melrose Place and in Beverly Hills with clients for the past 37 years.”
Jem’s by Monica will hopefully have a soft opening next week. The salon will engage the WeHo Chamber in hosting a grand opening in the near future.
She hopes to offer several services and wants to encourage her clients to take advantage of the amenities the city has to offer. “They can get their car washed while they are getting their hair done,” she said. “We can have someone come in and offer manicures and pedicures or whatever services they like.”

Jem’s by Monica is currently going through some renovations in preparation of their big debut in West Hollywood.
“We’re here. We’re ready. We want to make everyone beautiful and we can’t wait for you to come and offer a real party time.”
Wigs and hair extensions seem tailor made for that part of town. I have to agree that I have never seen a place thrive at that location, so good luck.
I live on Palm Ave. and I have yet to see a biz succeed there except the sushi place next door. Good luck though!
