The annual West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval may be cancelled due to COVID-19 precautions, but you can’t can’t kill the spirit of Halloween. And in the spirit of screaming your head off, the Amazon Pop-Up store in West Hollywood, located at 8551 Melrose Avenue, on the corner of Melrose and Westmount Drive, is creeping us out with a free House of Horrors pop-up to promote Amazon Prime Video original content of scary movies and other original programing.

The House of Horror’s Pop-Up will open October 1, 2021 just in time for Halloween month in October. It will feature props and photo ops from its original scary movie content including the all-new “I Know What You Did Last Summer” series.

Some of Amazon Prime’s new scary content coming out in October includes:

  • “Black As Night,” a story about a resourceful teenage girl driven by revenge. She spends her summer battling vampires terrorizing her city of New Orleans alongside her trusted friends. It too is set to debut October 1st

  • “The Manor” out on October 8: After suffering a stroke, Judith Albright moves into a historic nursing home, where she begins to suspect something supernatural is preying on the residents. In order to escape, she’ll need to convince everyone around her that she doesn’t actually belong there after all.
  • Also out on October 8th is “Madres”: This terror movie is a story of a newly married Mexican-American couple expecting their first child. They relocate to a migrant farming community in 1970’s California. When the wife begins to experience strange symptoms and terrifying visions, she tries to determine if it’s related to a legendary curse or something more nefarious.
  • Then there is the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” series being released October 15: In a town full of secrets, a group of teenagers are stalked by a mysterious killer a year after a fatal accident on their graduation night.

Judging from the mockup, the House of Horrors pop-up will feature show-inspired costume on displays on the window fronts and will have an element of surprise coaxing you to enter inside. If they dare.

The intersection of Melrose Avenue and Westmount Drive is no stranger to scary pop-ups. The Fear Street Rental went up across the street, back in July to promote the Fear Street trilogy by Amazon Prime streaming competitor, Netflix. It drew crowds from all over the the Greater Los Angeles area. The same is bound to happen for the House of Horrors.

Regular Hours for the Amazon pop-up in West Hollywood are Monday through Friday from 10am-6pm, and on Sunday from 11am-6pm. Hours for the House of Horrors pop-up could change. More details to come October 1st.
