County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health closed yet another West Hollywood business on the Santa Monica strip, in the heart of @wehocity’s Boystown. This time Mickys West Hollywood has been slapped with a violation that was posted at their door today. The violation refers to section 114259.1, which is code for a vermin infestation.
The two-story gay nightclub, known for it’s outdoor patio, upstairs lounge, dance floor and its large collection of male go-go dancers, is the second place to be shut down for violation(s) of California Health and Los Angeles County Code this month. Tender Greens, located one block east of Micky’s WeHo was closed for several days last week with for same violation.
Tender Greens management posted a note during its closure explaining the situation: “During a recent health audit, pest activity was discovered in an unused piece of equipment. Unfortunately, this activity was undetected, but we are working swiftly with the Health Department and our Pest Control Company to remedy this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience. This issue will be resolved within 24 hours.”
According to the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health, infestation (vermin) is defined as the presence of vermin within the food facility as evidenced by actual live bodies, fresh droppings or vomitus, urine stains, or gnaw marks, that could result in contamination to the food, equipment, packaging, or utensils.
It is unclear what inspectors found at Micky’s West Hollywood that prompted them to shut the down club. Several patrons can be seen walking up to the door and being shocked that their Tuesday night hangout is closed for the night. A lot of people are also taking pictures of the vermin verdict post, which is bound to make its rounds all over social media.
Micky’s West Hollywood, located at 8857 Santa Monica Blvd, is currently celebrating its 30-year anniversary.
