Hauser & Wirth West Hollywood Presents New Works by Artist Jenny Holzer

Hauser & Wirth West Hollywood present a solo exhibition of new works by renowned American artist Jenny Holzer. The exhibit will run from September 1st – October 31, 2023. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, August 31, from 6 – 8 pm. Hauser and Wirth is located at 8980 Santa Monica Boulevard. The gallery is currently closed for installation from August 8 – 30.

“Known for thought-provoking and politically charged works that span mediums including painting, sculpture, light projection and installation, Holzer stands among the most influential artists of our time,” reads a description on the gallerie’s website. “Through the use of language, she challenges viewers’ preconceived notions and encourages them to question the systems and structures that shape our society. Opening in September, Holzer’s exhibition will feature recent paintings and curse tablets, as well as three kinetic displays – further testaments to her ability to push the boundaries of contemporary art.”

    More about the artist:

Jenny Holzer is an American conceptual and installation artist whose work deploys text in public spaces across an array of media, including electronic signs, carved stone, paintings, billboards, and printed materials. Holzer’s oeuvre provokes public debate and illuminates social and political justice. Celebrated for her inimitable use of language and projects in the public sphere, Holzer creates a powerful tension between the realms of feeling and knowledge, with a practice that encompasses both individual and collective experiences of power and violence, vulnerability and tenderness.
