The Great Fact Group of Alcoholics Anonymous, in conjunction with AL-ANON groups, are hosting their 49th Annual Thanksgiving Gratitude Dinner on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at the West Hollywood Recovery Center Log Cabin, located at 621 N Robertson Boulevard. dinner will be served at 3:00 p.m., followed by a 12-step-based meeting at 4:30 p.m. (the meeting will be an AA/AL-ANON/ALA-TEEN meeting).
The Thanksgiving meal and meeting are free to attend; it is recovery-based, but all are welcome (the only requirement is the desire to stop drinking, even if it’s only to attend this gratitude dinner, which will be completely alcohol free). The event is a chance for fellowship and to express gratitude during Thanksgiving.
Prepared food donations are gratefully accepted (there is no on-site cooking available. Arrive early if you are bringing food). Parking restrictions are lifted in the City of West Hollywood during the Thanksgiving holiday, so there will be ample street parking as well as parking at The Log Cabin and the five-story structure at the West Hollywood Park.
The Great Fact Group has been providing a combination a sit-down meal and a meeting for Thanksgiving for almost 50 years. The concept of the dinner is on an all-are-welcome basis. Sadly, they lost their venue at St. Thomas Church (Hollywood and Gardner) as they segued into utilizing the meeting hall and kitchen for catering purposes. For the past two years, The Great FAct Group did a post-Covid delivery of food to the homeless as well as some AA marathon meetings. This year, they are regrouping to their original intent of doing a large gratitude gathering of 12 step people and whoever finds themselves at the venue at the West Hollywood Recovery Center Log Cabin.
The WeHo Log Cabin is home to numerous 12-Step program meetings. In April of 2020 the historic meeting space was saved from demolition when the City of West Hollywood bought it and the West Hollywood Recovery Center took over management of it to ensure all 90+ weekly 12 step group meetings on N Robertson Blvd continue.
The mission of the West Hollywood Recovery Center is to provide a meeting place for 12-step groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, and to provide assistance with addiction recovery, prevention and education to those in need.
I went to this 2x with friends when all of our husband’s were in rehab. Sooo much fun. Except when an alanon woman punched an aa woman in the gut for using her fingers.
