The Frosty Palace has taken over Mel’s Drive In diner in West Hollywood for a “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” pop up on the Sunset Strip. The musical series experience launched on Thursday, April 6th and will return Friday, April 7th from 4pm-8pm. Thursday hosted a VIP/invite-only screening of the premier episode. Tickets are sold out but people can show up for standby tickets.


Fans of the movie musical Grease now have the chance to indulge in some 1950s nostalgia at a pop-up version of the Frosty Palace, the iconic diner featured in the original film. Hosted by Paramount+ in partnership with Popsugar, the event offers a classic diner experience with a twist, where fans enjoyed a free shake and fries, photo opportunities inside classic cars, listened to music from the 1950s, and walked away with free giveaways of “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” merchandise.


Actors from the new series were at The Frosty Palace on Thursday evening. Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Madison Thompson, Marisa Davila, Tricia Fukuhara, Nicholas McDonnough, and Maxwell Whittington-Cooper where among the actors who made an appearance for a meet and greet with fans.



Variety reports that according to Domenic DiMeglio, exec VP and chief marketing officer of Paramount Streaming, the pop-up experience was created with meticulous attention to detail, down to the milkshakes, in order to create an authentic 1950s diner experience for fans. The Frosty Palace, which was first seen in the 1978 film, is also featured prominently in the new series.
Embroiderers were standing by to offer fans free personalized ascots and sunglasses that were embellished to their liking. Fans were also allowed to try on a Pink Ladies jacket, or a red letterman jacket for photos ops.



“Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” is a prequel series that takes place in 1954, four years before the events of the original Broadway musical and film. It centers on four rebellious high school girls who dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change their school forever. The series stars Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, Tricia Fukuhara, Shanel Bailey, Madison Thompson, Johnathan Nieves, Jason Schmidt, Maxwell Whittington-Cooper, and Jackie Hoffman. The 10-episode season premiered on April 6th on Paramount+ in the US and Canada, with new episodes released weekly on Thursdays.
