The City of West Hollywood released a list showing twelve qualified candidates running for city council in the City of West Hollywood General Municipal Election. Three City Council seats will be decided in the upcoming General Municipal Election, which will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
City of West Hollywood Council members each serve for a term of four years and are elected at large. Each year, City Council members select one of their members to serve as Mayor for a year, with the term beginning after the City Council reorganization, which occurs once every year.
The randomized drawing by the Secretary of State will occur today and once the City Clerk’s Division has the candidate names organized based upon the drawing, the City will publish how the names will appear on the ballot on its elections page at www.weho.org/elections.
As of August 17, 2022, the qualified candidates and their contact information are as follows (in no particular order):
The City Council candidacy nomination process required potential candidates to gather between 20 and 30 signatures by voters registered in West Hollywood. Potential candidates must be at least 18 years old, residents of West Hollywood, and registered voters within the City.
