Emerald Village, West Hollywood’s cannabis travel and tourism board, is looking for the next Cannabis Drag Ambassador. There is currently an open call for a drag artist to submit their entries for the second annual Queen of the Emerald Village Drag Contest, to be held on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
Following the overwhelming success of last year’s competition, which crowned drag entertainer Kalista Stage as West Hollywood’s first-ever Cannabis Drag Ambassador,
the cannabis community of West Hollywood is excited to once again celebrate the art of drag and showcase the talents of local performers from all over the city. The contest promises to be a lively and entertaining afternoon, filled with glitter, glamour, and
fierce competition to see who will be crowned the next Drag Ambassador of the Emerald Village – the world’s newest cannabis capital destination.
The contest will be held as a public vote via Emerald Village West Hollywood’s website at
www.emeraldvillageweho.com. It began on Thursday, April 20 and will run through Saturday, May 13. Contestants will face off for a drag show competition showcasing their stage presence, creativity, overall performance and knowledge of cannabis before the next Queen of the Emerald Village is announced on Sunday, May 14.
“We are delighted to host this event for the second year in a row,” said Emerald Village West Hollywood’s Executive Director, Scott Schmidt. “We believe in celebrating
diversity and inclusivity, and this event is a great way to showcase the talents of the LGBTQ+ community and bring people together in a fun and entertaining way.”
Submissions for drag artists interested in entering the competition can be sent to

The winner of the coveted title of the 2nd Annual Queen of the Emerald Village will be crowned by Kalista Stage and have the opportunity to perform at future Emerald Village West Hollywood events and be featured on the tourism board’s social media channels as the official cannabis drag ambassador of West Hollywood.
I never heard of a cannabis drag ambassador before, but we will soon find out.Emerald Village is another new board for me,so I hope the drag competition is a success.
Wondering about the deputies with Kalista, were they there due to trouble at a drag show? Seeing the photo was jarring, but this is West Hollywood.
You think she’s being arrested in this photo or that there’s some sort of trouble. I don’t get that at all. They are all smiling for starters. It looks to me like she’s entertaining the troops. Not jarring at all.
