Gaga wore a pale yellow draped tulle gown by Rodarte with a bold red lip and Tiffany diamonds, before changing into a Ralph Lauren black lamé tuxedo to head across town to the Academy Awards ceremony, where she presented the Best Picture award with Liza Minnelli.

“When Elton throws a party, he throws a party with purpose.…I’m here for the 37 million people living with HIV, including me. I’m lucky to be living in a community that loves and supports me, but not everyone has that luxury,” said co-host Billy Porter at the event.

Elton John joined the party via satellite while guests sipped on Belvedere vodka cocktail under a tent decked in all pink that would make WeHo’s Pink Lady, Kitten Kay Sera feel right at home. He performed “Your Song” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.”

Simon de Pury led a live auction for items that included a 64-carat diamond necklace worn by Porter to the 2000 Oscars. It sold for $60,000.

The Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) was established in 1992 and is one of the leading independent AIDS organizations in the world. EJAF’s mission is to be a powerful force in the end to the AIDS epidemic. Since 2004, the City of West Hollywood has co- sponsored the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party and Charity Fundraiser.

In 2020, the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party and Charity Fundraiser raised $6.4 million dollars and at the virtual event in 2021 they raised $3 million dollars to help end the AIDS epidemic. This year’s $8.6 Million makes it the highest amount raised thus far.

The 2022 event held in West Hollywood Park saw the street closure of San Vicente Boulevard between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue.

The West Hollywood Park dog park and basketball courts are temporarily closed through Thursday, March 31, 2020.
